Prince Eni Akinsola to Chair D Chronicle Media Ventures 13th Anniversary Celebration
AKURE — Public analyst, journalist and former Chief Press Secretary to Ondo State Government, Prince Eni Akinsola, will serve as Chairman of the D Chronicle Media Ventures 13th Anniversary Celebration and Awards Ceremony.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, 30th August, 2026 at 2:00 PM prompt at the OSDPC Multipurpose Event Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State. The theme is “Agenda 2027: Leadership, Accountability, Progress”.
Eni Akinsola, from Igodan-Lisa, Ondo State, has built a public career across student activism, human-rights advocacy, journalism, government communication, and politics.
Son of the late Oba Paul Akinsola, the Olu of Igodan-Lisa, and Olori Comfort Akinsola, he studied International Relations at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. His political consciousness was shaped during the pro-democracy struggle that followed the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election. At OAU, he served as Public Relations Officer of the Student Union Government and was active in the National Association of Nigerian Students.
After university, he joined the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), working on human-rights education, campaigns, and youth mobilisation. He also wrote and edited several books published by CDHR.
Akinsola entered journalism as a member of the Editorial Board of The Comet newspaper and, after its transition to The Nation, served as Head of the Foreign Desk. He later became Assistant Editor of The Nation on Sunday and maintained a political column until he left The Nation in 2009.
In April 2009, he joined Dr. Olusegun Mimiko’s administration as Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, and was later appointed Chief Press Secretary. He served in that role throughout Mimiko’s two terms as Governor of Ondo State between 2009 and 2017, as the administration’s principal public voice.
His tenure coincided with the rise of social media in Nigerian politics. The Mimiko media team, led by Akinsola, was among the early adopters of digital communication for governance.
After government, he remained active in politics, helping to build the Zenith Labour Party and serving as its communication strategist. In 2019 he contested the Ondo South senatorial election on the ZLP platform.
Well travelled in Nigeria and abroad, Prince Eni Akinsola, a bible student and Christian of the Redeemed Christian Church of God denomination, is married with children.
The Guest Lecturer is Hon. Dayo Awude, former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Ondo State. He is an author, poet, public speaker and CEO of Liwat Creations Limited. He holds a Master’s degree in Managerial Psychology from the University of Ibadan and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Policy and Governance at Adekunle Ajasin University.
Other dignitaries expected include His Excellency Dr. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, Governor of Ondo State as Special Guest of Honour, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of Amotekun Corps, Ondo State, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo State Governor, HRM Rotimi Obamuwagun Nwade I, Olumoru of Imoru Kingdom, and HRM Oba Engr. Ademola Adebiyi Oyinbade Olanipekun III, PhD, Oloba of Uso as Royal Fathers of the Day.
The anniversary will feature a keynote lecture, presentation of awards to distinguished Nigerians, and the launching of the D Chronicle 13th Anniversary Commemorative Magazine.
For 13 years, D Chronicle Media Ventures has promoted truth, knowledge, and national development through Chronicle TV, Chronicle Online, and Chronicle Magazine. The 2026 anniversary will bring together policymakers, civil society, students, media practitioners, and the general public to interrogate leadership and chart the conversation for Agenda 2027.
