Ondo Assembly Approves Report on Audited Accounts

ONDO ASSEMBLY APPROVE’S REPORT ON AUDITED ACCOUNT

Ondo State House of Assembly has approved the reports of the Public Accounts Committee on the reports of the State Auditor General on the audited accounts of the State Government for the years ended 2015-2018.

Consequently, the House approved the reports of Public Accounts Committee on the reports of the Auditor General for Local Government on the Audited Accounts of the Eighteen Local Government Councils for years ended 2012-2015.

These reports were approved through a voice votes at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Bamidele Oleyelogun.

In his ruling, the Speaker commended the present and past Committee for a job well done.

He acknowledged the collective work of the Committee and the Auditors General in promoting transparency, accountability and good governance in the State.

Earlier, while submitting the reports, the Chairman House Committee on Public Account, Hon Festus Adefiranye noted that there should be a remarkable improvement in communication between the office of the Auditor-General and the office of the Accountant General.

In the reports,he added that there should be adequate training for the Account officers and lnternal Auditors in the area of monitoring.

It said it should be mandatory for the Ministries, Agencies and Departments, ( MDA’s) to have functional stores to be headed by effective store officers for efficient and effective performance , while Leger books should be provided for store officers

It stated that the office of the Auditor general should provide more sufficient and significant support for Public Accounts Committee and the Secretariat.

During the plenary, the House also adopted a report of the Joint investigative Committee of the Ondo State House of Assembly and the House of Assembly Service Commission on personnel related matters.

While laying the report of the Committee, the Deputy Speaker, Samuel Aderoboye recalled that on 30th September,2021,consequent upon a letter received by the House of Assembly Service Commission from the House requesting for the appointment of a new substantive Clerk for the House of Assembly following a notice of retirement of Mr Bode Adeyelu from service.

According to him,a meeting was held on the issue between the two establishments on the instance of the Assembly Commission to resolve some grey areas hindering the process of appoitment of a new Clerk.
