NANS Threatens Nationwide Protest Against MTN, MultiChoice, Stanbic IBTC
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has announced plans to stage a nationwide protest targeting South African-owned businesses operating in Nigeria, including MTN, MultiChoice and Stanbic IBTC Bank.

NANS President said the planned action is in response to what the association described as South Africa’s treatment of Nigeria and Nigerian citizens.
According to him, the association is prepared to mobilise students across the country to shut down the operations of MTN and MultiChoice while urging Nigerians to close their accounts with Stanbic IBTC Bank.
“We are going to shut down MTN and MultiChoice. We will also encourage Nigerians to close their accounts with Stanbic IBTC Bank,” the student leader stated.
He explained that the protest is intended to put pressure on South African-linked companies doing business in Nigeria, calling on students and members of the public to support the planned demonstration.
The NANS president maintained that the association would continue its mobilisation efforts ahead of the nationwide action.
Further details, including the date and mode of the proposed protest, are expected to be announced as developments unfold.
