D Chronicle Media Ventures Marks 13th Anniversary, Advocates Responsible Leadership Ahead of 2027

AKURE — D Chronicle Media Ventures has commemorated its 13th anniversary with a call for responsible leadership, accountability, professionalism and inclusive governance as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
The anniversary celebration, held on Sunday at the OSDPC Multipurpose Event Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State, was themed “Agenda 2027: Leadership, Accountability, Progress.”
The event attracted dignitaries and stakeholders from government, the media, traditional institutions, security agencies and other sectors of society.
In his welcome address, the Publisher of D Chronicle Media Ventures, Olaseeni Oyesusi, said the organisation’s 13-year journey of providing quality and objective news reportage had not been without challenges.
Oyesusi, however, said resilience, hard work and the organisation’s determination to serve the public through credible and objective journalism had remained the driving forces behind its continued growth.
He reaffirmed the media outfit’s commitment to providing the public with accurate, credible and professional information while upholding the principles of responsible journalism.
The Publisher expressed appreciation to well-meaning individuals, stakeholders, partners and supporters for their unwavering support throughout the organisation’s 13 years in the media industry.
According to him, the support received over the years had contributed significantly to the growth and stability of D Chronicle Media Ventures and enabled it to remain focused on its responsibility of informing the public and contributing to societal development.
Oyesusi appealed for continued support from stakeholders and members of the public, saying such backing would enable the organisation to expand its operations, strengthen its professional capacity and attain greater heights in the media industry.
He also reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to maintaining high professional standards and using journalism as a tool to promote development, accountability and the welfare of society.
Speaking as the guest lecturer, a former Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Dayo Awude, charged media organisations to remain objective, factual and professional in their reportage.
Awude stressed that setting an agenda for government should not be misconstrued as opposition to the administration in power, but should involve constructive reporting that helps government identify and address areas requiring attention.
He said the media could contribute meaningfully to good governance by accurately reporting facts and figures rather than allowing financial inducements or political interests to influence their editorial judgment.
According to him, “Setting the agenda for government does not mean you must oppose the government in power. It requires objectivity, reporting facts and figures accurately, and not being an instrument for opposition because of financial inducement.”
The former commissioner explained that journalists, through effective and investigative reportage, could draw the attention of government to issues affecting the people and areas where policies might be failing to achieve their intended objectives.
He noted that government could not be expected to know everything happening across the country, making the media an important link between the people and those in authority.
Awude also advocated inclusive governance, stressing that any agenda designed for the people must genuinely involve the people.
He maintained that governance should be “of the people, by the people and for the people,” adding that government policies and programmes must translate into tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.
He said an inclusive approach to governance should positively impact critical sectors such as the economy, security, education and other areas of human endeavour.
Awude further charged media practitioners to place professionalism and journalistic ethics above financial incentives from politicians and other interest groups.
He urged journalists to remain committed to the core principles of journalism, including truth, fairness, balance and accountability, particularly as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the occasion, Prince Eni Akinsola, a public analyst and Chief Operating Officer of Agogoo Publishers Ltd., commended D Chronicle Media Ventures for its contributions to the media industry over the past 13 years.
Akinsola described the organisation’s reportage as unbiased and balanced, noting that its consistency and commitment to professional journalism deserved recognition.
He reiterated his readiness to support D Chronicle Media Ventures in every way possible to enable it sustain and expand its contributions to the media industry and society.
The special guests at the anniversary Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps represented lauded the activities of D Chronicle Media and prayed for God’s energy.
The Royal Father of the Day HRM Oba Engr. Ademola Adebiyi Oyimade, Olanipakun III, PhD, Oloba of Uso acknowledged the fact that he will always be part of D Chronicle Media Ventures considering his mutual relationship between him and the CEO even before he became an Oba. He appreciates the surprise honour bestowed on him and prayed that God will continue to sustain the organization.
The anniversary programme also featured a lecture, award presentation and launching.
The award segment recognised individuals and organisations for their contributions to society and the development of the media industry.
Speaking in separate interviews after receiving their awards, the recipients expressed appreciation to D Chronicle Media Ventures for recognising their contributions to society.
They said they were delighted to have been selected from among numerous individuals making positive impacts in their respective fields and pledged to continue contributing to the development and betterment of society.
The 13th anniversary celebration thus provided an opportunity for D Chronicle Media Ventures to reflect on its journey while bringing stakeholders together to discuss leadership, accountability, professionalism and inclusive governance as Nigeria moves towards the 2027 general elections.
