Aiyedatiwa’s Infrastructure Drive Expands Access Across Ondo State
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has made infrastructure development a central focus of his administration in Ondo State, with projects aimed at linking communities, easing movement and strengthening the state’s economy for the long term.
Giving an update at the NUJ Press Centre in Akure, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said over 200 kilometres of roads have been completed in the last 18 months. Another 90 kilometres of road rehabilitation is currently ongoing across the state.
According to him, the government also approved five kilometres of road projects for each of the 18 Local Government Areas to ensure balanced development across all parts of the state.
Speaking at the first edition of the briefing series tagged “The Lucky Stride”, Prince Adeniyan said the construction of a new flyover along Oyemekun-Oba Adesida Road in Akure is designed to address years of traffic congestion in the state capital.
He noted that this is the first time in the history of Ondo State that three major intercity road dualization projects are being executed at the same time, one in each senatorial district. The projects include the Akungba–Ikare Akoko road in Ondo North, the Akure–Idanre road in Ondo Central, and the Okitipupa–Igbokoda road in Ondo South.
The CPS further stated that the Onyearugbulem–Irese road flyover in Akure, which was started by the previous administration, has now been completed and commissioned alongside other road projects.
Under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, RAAMP, the state government has also constructed and upgraded several rural roads that connect farming communities to markets. Prince Adeniyan said this has helped to cut transport costs and reduce post-harvest losses for farmers.
He added that the administration is equally investing in the riverine areas through the construction of concrete jetties and walkways to improve water transportation and make movement easier for residents.
