Ondo Assembly Confirms Commissioner, Civil Service Commission Appointees, Approves 5 Special Advisers

The Ondo State House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed the appointments of a Commissioner-designate and new leadership for the State Civil Service Commission.
Those confirmed are Erelu Taibat Oloruntoba as Commissioner-designate; Dr. Mann Omobayi-Alli as Chairman-designate of the Ondo State Civil Service Commission; and Mr. Michael Oshodi as member-designate of the Commission.
The confirmation followed plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji.
Lawmakers ratified the appointments after the House Committee on Selection, led by the Speaker, presented its screening report.
The Deputy Speaker and Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Rt. Hon. Ololade Gbegudu, told the House that the nominees answered all questions “eloquently and explicitly” during Wednesday’s screening.
According to the committee, the appointees possess the required academic qualifications and are “physically, mentally and emotionally fit” for office. The report also noted that they have the experience, exposure and charisma needed to deliver on their mandates.
The Leader of the House, Hon. Chief Olatunji Oshati, moved for the consideration of the report. It was seconded by Hon. Sulaiman Murtala of Akoko South-East. Lawmakers from the nominees’ constituencies also spoke in support, vouching for their competence and integrity.
The motion for confirmation was later moved by the House Leader and seconded by the Deputy Speaker.
Speaking after the exercise, Speaker Oladiji said the confirmation was in line with constitutional provisions. He urged the appointees to work with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to advance the development of the state.
The Speaker also congratulated them and called on them to contribute meaningfully to the progress of Ondo State.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, Erelu Oloruntoba thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity. She pledged that they would justify the confidence reposed in them and ensure effective service delivery to the people.
In a related development, the House also approved the appointment of five additional Special Advisers for Governor Aiyedatiwa.
The names were earlier forwarded to the Assembly by the Governor a few weeks ago for consideration.
