Arabinrin Akeredolu flags off Bemore Boot Camp 2021 in Ondo

Bemore Empowered, an initiative of the First Lady of Ondo State, Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs) Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has over the years trained close to two thousands young secondary school girls and empowering them in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), Solar technology, Taekwondo training and other modern-day life-enhancing skills.

Bemore Empowered Initiative whose aim is to build a new generation of techy girls in areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). These girls whose make up cuts across board are now bridging that wide gap that has for long kept the females out of technologically driven jobs and employment across the State and are self driving themselves to start up on that innovative path. The life testimonies of some of the beneficiaries who took the bull by the horn to try out the skills they had acquired further testifies to the fact that in just a few years to come, more of these girls will begin to dominate their world and be in charge as against social norms that had confined them to the back seat.

At the Opening Ceremony of Bemore Ondo 2021, the initiator and Wife of Ondo State Governor Chief (Mrs) Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, said this year marks the fourth edition of Bemore in Ondo State and second edition of bemore in Imo and “There was a hunger in me to change the gender narrative of our nation,I was unsure of how to get the required resources to empower the girl child and in effect Change the gender narrative” She added.

In the meantime, 50 school girls from Akoko North East and Akoko North West local governments arrived the Bemore Camp, for the 2-week long event of an initiative of the First Lady of Ondo State, Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs) Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu.

The Ondo first lady further stated that she has taken to change the narrative of girls child and women in the country. Bemore has come to stay and committed in building an army of female technology leaders. “Our ability to hold this year’s bemore summer boot camp was threatened by lack of resources. It became practically impossible to seek support from government institutions. The Bemore girls will become a generation I had named ” A BREED WITHOUT GREED” She said.

In a special remarks, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa Ondo State Deputy Governor, described her Excellency Chief (Mrs) Betty Ayanwu Akeredolu as a transformational leader and call for support of the initiative. He charged the beneficiaries to make use of the opportunity very well as an avenue of a good starting point.
