Timber Industry Leader, Ajayi Oluwafemi Alabora to Receive D Chronicle Revenue Leadership Award

In recognition of his remarkable contributions to commerce, agricultural value chains, and revenue generation, D Chronicle Media Ventures has selected him for the Outstanding Contributor to State Agricultural IGR and Revenue Leadership Award at its 2026 Excellence in Agribusiness Lecture and Award Programme.
The event will hold on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the OSDPC Multipurpose Event Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The programme is themed “Unlocking the Agricultural Tax Potentials: Strategies for Enhancing Ondo State IGR,” and is expected to attract government officials, agribusiness investors, policymakers, researchers, and key stakeholders from across the state.
The keynote lecture will be delivered by Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, Honourable Commissioner for Education, Ondo State, while Hon. (Engr.) Leye Akinola, Honourable Commissioner for Forestry, Ondo State, will chair the occasion. The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is expected as the Special Guest of Honour.
A native of Ilutitun in Okitipupa Local Government Area, Ajayi’s entrepreneurial journey began long before adulthood. As a young boy, he immersed himself in his father’s timber business, gaining practical experience that would later shape his future. While many of his peers were still discovering their career paths, he was already learning the principles of business management, product sourcing, and market expansion.
Although his dream of university education did not materialize, he refused to allow setbacks to define his future. Instead, he channelled his energy into business, steadily building a reputation for diligence, integrity, and sound judgment. Over the years, he expanded beyond timber into produce trading, palm kernel business, and other commercial ventures, creating multiple streams of economic value.
His impact on the timber industry became even more evident when he pioneered the introduction of the Professional Wood Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (PROWPAN) to Ondo State and subsequently emerged as its first elected State Chairman. Under his leadership, the association gained visibility and became a stronger platform for industry growth and stakeholder engagement.
According to the organisers, Ajayi Oluwafemi Alabora’s selection is a reflection of his significant contributions to economic activities that support internally generated revenue, create employment opportunities, and strengthen agricultural and natural resource value chains within Ondo State.
