My Election Shows Power truly Belongs to the People- Chris Ayebusiwa

Though he’ll be one of the new faces in the 10th Ondo State House of Assembly, Christopher Odunayo Ayebusiwa is not a newbie within the political climate of the state. Chris has been a consistent force and assertive voice in Ikale political transactions since the return to the fourth republic. A reputable business handler and holder of Bachelor’s degree of the prestigious Lagos State University, Ayebusiwa bares his mind on sundry political issues, including the recent general elections.

You were not the anointed candidate of your party for the position, yet you won the ticket and proceeded to win the general election overwhelmingly. What’s the secret?

The secret is the supremacy of God Almighty over human antics. The secret is the thirst of the determined populace for a representative they can trust to deliver and their belief that Chris Ayebusiwa has the qualities it require to make the difference that they seek.

Why did you not give up when the odds where obviously against you?

I did not give up because I am convinced that I have paid my dues well enough to run for political office. I did not give up because I have been able to earn the confidence of the people and they’re on my side. I did not give up because our people were resolute and wanted to prove a point. I did not give up because I have the conviction, all along, that the governor and leader of the party in the state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, is a sticker for justice and fairness, and this was eventually proven.

What are your plans for your constituency?

We have a manifesto already released for election purpose which captures our plans for the various categories of citizens within my constituency and which the people saw and accepted. We may not have to begin to do a new narrative on them for want of time and space. Be that as it may, I am here to do exactly what my people have elected me to do. I am going there to seek ways of improving on the socioeconomic status of my constituency through lobby and sponsorship of relevant bills. I am not out for any personal or pecuniary pursuit which is often the case with political players. And God helping me, I will not falter.

What are your expectations of the 10th Assembly as a honourable member of the House?

I expect that the 10th Assembly will contribute outstandingly to the development of our dear state through progressive legislative interventions. I expect that the legislative arm will work in harmony with other arms of government I’m the sole interest of developing our state. And, of course, I expect that honourable members will hold their heads high up and work hard enough to justify the confidence reposed in us by the people.

Your advice for the youth in your immediate constituency and elsewhere?

They should be responsible citizens and shun the lure of violence. They should see my election especially as an instructive testament to the fact that no height is too tall to attain for a goal-driven mind. If I can achieve this, they also can achieve much more.
