The Nigerian Economics Students Association (NESA) at Lead City University, Ibadan, Oyo State, organized an enlightening academic seminar on April 17, 2024, as part of its Student Week activities. Titled “Exploring Career Opportunities in Economics: Shaping the Future,” the seminar aimed to equip students with insights into diverse career paths within the economics field.

The event commenced with an inspiring opening speech by Dr. Ogunjimi, the Head of the Economics Department, emphasizing the summit’s significance for undergraduate students. Dr. Ogunjimi highlighted the importance of networking across academic levels and urged students to build connections within the economics community.

Keynote speaker Nelson Daramola ACS MSCI UK ACMA, a seasoned practitioner at the Nigerian Stock Exchange Group, delivered a comprehensive presentation. He discussed numerous opportunities in the capital market and elucidated the relevance of economics across various sectors, including Oil and Gas, Derivatives, Fixed Income, equity and money market, and foreign exchange market.

His insights provided attendees with a deeper understanding of economics’ practical applications in real-world scenarios.

Esteemed lecturers from Lead City University’s Economics Department, including Dr. Aderinto, Dr. Ogunro, Dr. Adesina, Dr. Alimi, Mrs. Ejumedia, and Mrs. Famuti, graced the event. Participants engaged in interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and networking opportunities throughout the seminar, fostering a dynamic learning environment. This allowed students to gain valuable insights into potential career paths and the practical applications of economic theory across various industries.

The Nigerian Economics Students Association expressed heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed speaker for graciously accepting their invitation and sharing invaluable insights. The seminar’s success was attributed to the wisdom and expertise shared, enriching participants’ understanding of economics and its diverse career opportunities.

Lead City University, founded in 2005 in Ibadan Nigeria with The mission of the University is to contribute to the development of tertiary education in Nigeria by providing qualitative access to knowledge and training, with innovative and challenging teaching techniques that guarantee a balanced education.
