FRSC to Confidently Enforce Speed Limit Devices and Passenger Manifest from March 1
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra Command has announced a proactive initiative to improve road safety by enforcing the installation of speed limit devices and the maintenance of passenger manifests, starting March 1.

During a recent press briefing in Awka, Anambra Sector Commander Mrs. Joyce Alexander highlighted the importance of compliance among commercial transporters, particularly fleet operators, regarding the installation of speed limit devices. She expressed concern over reports of tampering with these devices and urged all stakeholders to prioritize road safety.
Furthermore, many interstate commercial drivers and fleet operators have been identified as not adhering to the legal requirement of carrying a passenger manifest that includes a column for blood group information. This detail is crucial for timely identification of passengers and for facilitating medical assistance in the event of an accident.
“Beginning March 1, the FRSC will take constructive action in Anambra to ensure compliance,” Alexander stated. “We will implement special patrols to conduct vehicle checks, and it is essential that all operators adhere to these regulations to enhance safety.”
The sector commander emphasized that this initiative aims to foster a culture of safety among fleet operators and motorists. It is vital for preventing road traffic crashes and ensuring the protection of lives and property in Anambra.
Alexander encouraged drivers to make it a routine practice to have all passengers accurately fill out their details in the manifest, reinforcing the importance of this responsibility for boarding their buses.
Additionally, she extended her gratitude to the Anambra state government for its ongoing road construction and rehabilitation efforts, which are expected to have a significant positive impact on reducing road crashes.
She also called on all road users to commit to obeying traffic rules and acknowledged the media’s valuable role in partnering with the FRSC to enhance public awareness and education about road safety. Together, we can work towards a safer and more responsible driving environment for everyone.
