Famous Philanthropist, Otunba Kayode Ige to Receive Builder of Nation Award by D Chronicle Media
AKURE — The D Chronicle Media Ventures 13th Anniversary Celebration and Awards Ceremony will honour distinguished Nigerians on Sunday, 30th August, 2026 at the OSDPC Multipurpose Event Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State. Time: 2:00 PM prompt.
Among the honourees is Otunba Kayode Ige, a famous philanthropist and community leader, who will be conferred with the Builder of Nation Award in recognition of his lifelong dedication to service, leadership, and human development.
Otunba Kayode Ige holds the distinguished chieftaincy titles of Bashorun Atuluse of Igbimo Ekiti and Otunba of Ayede Ekiti — crowns that speak to his deep roots, cultural pride, and commitment to his people.
Born and raised in Iyin Ekiti, and a proud native of Aisegba Ekiti, his journey reflects discipline, industry, and heart. He began at All Saints Primary School, proceeded to Eyemote Comprehensive High School, Iyin Ekiti, and then to the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti where he graduated in 1980 with a degree in Electrical Electronics. He furthered his knowledge at the University of Benin, earning a Diploma in Business Administration in 1993.
A consummate professional, Otunba Ige has served Chevron Nigeria Limited with distinction since 1993. From Maintenance Supervisor to HSE Supervisor, and now as HSC, his three decades of service have been marked by excellence, integrity, and zero regrets. Beyond the oil fields, he is also a successful entrepreneur with a private office dealing in imported electrical equipment from China and Dubai.
It is in service to humanity that Otunba Ige truly shines.
As a committed member and past Region Chairperson in Ekiti Area of Lions Club International, he led impactful outreaches including major donations to the Diabetes Centre in Ekiti. He is also a respected member of Inland Club Ado Ekiti, known for voluntary gifts and community support.
In education and social welfare, his footprints are everywhere. As President of Government Technical College, he continues to champion the cause of technical education by donating a solar light in the school premises. Through regular visits to schools and institutions like the donation of school materials to the people of Emmanuel Cathedral School at Ado Ekiti, he ensures children receive learning materials and support.
His vision for the next five years is to continue providing educational materials, sponsor school fees for the less privileged, and provide eye glasses to those in need.
Otunba Kayode Ige embodies the ideals of leadership, compassion, and development. A traditional title holder, a corporate professional, an entrepreneur, and a humanitarian — he gives back without counting the cost.
