D Chronicle Honours Engr. Femi Olafunmiloye at 13th Anniversary for Driving Indigenous Innovation and Youth Empowerment

As D Chronicle Media Ventures marks 13 years of impactful journalism, the organization will honor Engr. Femi Olafunmiloye, Managing Director and CEO of Lafbart Innovations & Consulting Limited, for his outstanding contributions to indigenous engineering, job creation, and national development.
The award presentation will take place during the 13th Anniversary Lecture and Awards Ceremony scheduled for Sunday, 30th August, 2026 at 2:00 PM prompt. Venue is the OSDPC Multipurpose Event Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State. The Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour.
This year’s theme is “Agenda 2027: Leadership, Accountability, Progress”. Former Ondo State Commissioner for Youth, Hon. Dayo Awude, will deliver the Guest Lecture as security leaders, policymakers, and thought leaders converge to interrogate the role of accountable leadership in driving sustainable progress ahead of 2027.
Engr. Femi Olafunmiloye is a Nigerian mechanical engineer, innovator, and entrepreneur who has become a symbol of what local solutions can achieve. Based in Akure, Ondo State, he leads Lafbart Innovations & Consulting Limited, a company specializing in automotive engineering, manufacturing, and technical training.
Under his leadership, Lafbart has pioneered cost-effective, indigenous transport and medical hardware alternatives that directly address everyday Nigerian problems. His innovations include tricycle ambulances, waste management tricycles, cooling boxes, agricultural tricycles, and security trucks. The company has achieved over 55% local content in its manufacturing capabilities, reducing Nigeria’s dependence on importation while creating jobs.
Lafbart also serves as an accredited training center for the National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC. Through this platform, hundreds of mechanics, welders, and drivers have been upskilled, giving young people employable skills for the future of Nigeria’s automotive sector.
Olafunmiloye holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ado-Ekiti, now Ekiti State University. He is an alumnus of Federal Government College, Idoani. He is also a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, MNSE, and COREN.
Before founding Lafbart, he spent about a decade working internationally as a Seismic, Navigation and Maintenance Engineer with global energy giant Baker Hughes. His field exposure took him across Angola, UAE, Mozambique, Algeria, and Uganda. He has also received advanced technical training in the US, UK, France, India, China, and Nigeria.
Today, he serves on the board of the Nigeria Auto Manufacturers Association, NAMA, and as a member of the Automotive Sector Skill Council, where he helps shape national manufacturing and skills development policies.
