In a landmark move for healthcare delivery in the South West, the Ondo State Government has approved the domestication and immediate implementation of the new CONMESS and CONHESS salary structure for medical doctors and all health workers at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH).

The announcement was made on behalf of the hospital management by the Chief Medical Director, Professor Michael Olumide Gbala, who described the decision as a clear demonstration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to the welfare and motivation of healthcare professionals.

“I am delighted to inform all staff of the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital that the Ondo State Government, under the able leadership of the captain of OUR EASE, His Excellency Hon. Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the domestication and immediate implementation of the new CONMESS and CONHESS salary structure,” Prof. Gbala stated.

He added that the official circular for the implementation has already been received by the hospital management, paving the way for immediate action.

With this approval, Ondo State becomes the first state in the South West to adopt the revised salary structure, positioning it ahead of its peers in prioritizing the welfare of medical personnel. The move is expected to boost morale, improve staff retention, and enhance productivity across the state’s health sector.

The development has been met with widespread celebration among staff, who see it as a long-awaited step toward aligning their remuneration with national standards for medical and allied health professionals.
