STONEWORKS NIG LTD COMMISSIONS 3 BOREHOLE PROJECTS IN OBA ILE, PROMISES 2 MORE THROUGH 2026

OBA ILE, ONDO STATE — Stoneworks Nigeria Limited has commissioned three new borehole water projects in Oba Ile, fulfilling part of its 2025 Community Development Agreement with the host community.

The commissioning ceremony was witnessed by government officials, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders. It was described as a major relief for residents who have struggled with water scarcity.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Adebesin Saheed Ayodeji, Assistant Director, Mines Environmental Compliance Officer in charge of Ondo State, said he was present to represent the Honourable Minister of Solid Mineral Development, Dr. Dele Alake.

According to him, the boreholes are part of the Community Development Agreement signed between Stoneworks Nig Ltd and Oba Ile community. “From the 2025 Community Development Initiative of Stoneworks, they were to construct five boreholes and repair one existing borehole in Oba Ile. Today, three of the five have been successfully commissioned. Before the end of 2026, the remaining two will be commissioned, and all other covenants of 2026 contained in the CDA agreement will be fully complied with,” he said.

Mr. Adebesin urged residents to make judicious use of the facilities and maintain them properly to enable the company to do more.

The Iya Oloja of Oba Ile, Chief Mrs. Esther Abidakun, expressed deep appreciation to Stoneworks for the intervention, noting that the project means a lot to the people of the community.

Also speaking, the Community Youth Leader, Comrade Fashomore Olufumilayo, said the boreholes would ease the stress of sourcing clean water for residents. “Even during the rainy season, none of the existing boreholes in Oba Ile were functioning. These new ones will bring great relief to our people,” he stated.

He disclosed that the commissioned boreholes are located at Palace Road, Saro Quarters, and Fatuase.

High Chief Odofin of Oba Ile also commended Stoneworks for fulfilling its promise and assured that the community would take good care of the facilities. Members of the community who spoke at the event equally thanked the company and pledged to protect the boreholes.

Representing the Managing Director of Stoneworks Nig Ltd, Mr. Safe Oluwafemi, the Technical Assistant to the MD, Mr. Zannu Sewanu Thomas, expressed gratitude to God for the successful completion of the projects. He thanked the Oba Ile community for the cooperation and enabling environment, and assured that Stoneworks remains committed to more developmental projects in the area.

“We thank God Almighty for the grace to start and complete this project. We also thank the community for giving us the opportunity to serve. By His grace, we will do more,” he said.

The commissioning marks a significant step in Stoneworks Nig Ltd’s corporate social responsibility drive in Ondo State.
