Yoruba nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has commended President Bola Tinubu and Nigeria’s security agencies for the successful rescue of the pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire, Oyo State.

In a statement issued by his media office in Ibadan, Igboho described the operation as a major achievement, noting that refusing to meet the kidnappers’ demands, including the reported request for the release of detained terrorists, prevented criminal groups from gaining further influence and resources.

He praised the intelligence-driven approach adopted by the security agencies, saying it played a key role in securing the victims’ freedom after 56 days in captivity.

Igboho also applauded the military, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies for their coordinated efforts, describing the operation as a demonstration of effective collaboration.

According to him, the successful rescue has restored public confidence in the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling insecurity and protecting lives across the country.

He further commended the Minister of Defence, the National Security Adviser, the Inspector-General of Police and other security chiefs for their roles in the operation.

The activist expressed confidence in the Federal Government’s determination to dismantle criminal networks operating in Oke-Ogun and other parts of the country, while also praising the continued collaboration between federal security agencies and local security groups to improve safety in rural communities.

Igboho extended his condolences to the family of teacher Michael Oyedokun, who lost his life during the abduction, as well as to other families affected by the incident.
