D Chronicle Honours Adeogun Olufemi Olaitan for Advancing Livestock Development and Farmer Empowerment
Across Ondo State, efforts to improve livestock production, strengthen rural livelihoods, and empower farmers have continued to gain momentum through the dedication of experienced agricultural professionals. Among those who have played a significant role in this transformation is Mr. Adeogun Olufemi Olaitan, a respected livestock development expert and public administrator whose work has positively impacted the agricultural sector for more than two decades.
His contributions will be celebrated at the 2026 Excellence in Agribusiness Lecture and Award Programme organised by D Chronicle Media Ventures, where he will receive the Excellence in Livestock Development and Farmer Empowerment Award.
Scheduled for June 11, 2026, at the OSDPC Multipurpose Event Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, the event will feature discussions on the theme, “Unlocking the Agricultural Tax Potentials: Strategies for Enhancing Ondo State IGR.” The lecture will be delivered by Prof. Igbekele Amos Ajibefun, Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Ondo State, while Hon. (Engr.) Leye Akinola, Honourable Commissioner for Forestry, will chair the programme. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is expected as the Special Guest of Honour.
Since joining the Ondo State Civil Service in 2001, Adeogun has built a reputation for excellence, diligence, and innovative leadership within the agricultural sector. Through years of dedicated service, he rose to the position of Deputy Director in the Ministry of Agriculture, where he has continued to champion initiatives that improve livestock production and support agricultural sustainability.
His current role as State Project Coordinator of the Ondo State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project has further amplified his impact. Under the World Bank-supported programme, he has worked closely with farmers, stakeholders, and development partners to enhance livestock productivity, strengthen resilience, and create new opportunities for economic growth within rural communities.
Colleagues and industry stakeholders describe him as a professional whose passion for agricultural development is matched by his commitment to empowering people. His ability to translate policies into practical benefits for farmers has made him a respected figure in the sector.
