D Chronicle to Honour Oni Victor Rotimi as Outstanding Forester of the Year
For over three decades, Mr. Oni Victor Rotimi has dedicated his career to protecting forest resources, promoting sustainable forestry practices, and supporting revenue generation within Ondo State’s forestry sector. His remarkable journey and contributions have now earned him the Outstanding Forester of the Year Award at the 2026 Excellence in Agribusiness Lecture and Award Programme organized by D Chronicle Media Ventures.
From his appointment as a Forest Guard in 1992 to his current position as Assistant Director of Forestry, Zonal Forest Officer, Akure Zone 1, and Special Assistant to the Honourable Commissioner on Forestry and Produce Subsector, Oni Rotimi’s career reflects dedication, professionalism, and continuous growth.
Among his notable achievements is becoming the first uniformed field officer in the history of the Ondo State Forestry Department to obtain a university degree. He also pioneered the establishment of the Alagbamesan Control Post, helping to strengthen forestry monitoring and revenue generation.
Beyond public service, he is actively involved in community development, youth mentorship, and private agricultural ventures, particularly poultry and piggery farming.
The event will hold on June 11, 2026, at the OSDPC Multipurpose Event Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, under the theme, “Unlocking the Agricultural Tax Potentials: Strategies for Enhancing Ondo State IGR.” The lecture will be delivered by Prof. Igbekele Amos Ajibefun, Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, while Hon. (Engr.) Leye Akinola will chair the programme. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is expected as the Special Guest of Honour.
As stakeholders gather for the 2026 agribusiness lecture and awards ceremony, the honour bestowed on Oni Victor Rotimi celebrates a forestry professional whose commitment, experience, and leadership have contributed significantly to environmental sustainability and economic development in Ondo State.
