Ondo 2024: PRP Kick Starts Senatorial Meeting, Dispels Voters Apathy
In anticipation of the November 2024 Governorship election in Ondo state, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has initiated its Senatorial Meeting aimed at enlightening party faithfuls about the forthcoming election. This move follows the pledge made by the party’s candidate, Comrade Babatunde Francis Alli, in his acceptance speech at the primary election held of April 27, 2024.
Comrade Alli, who extensively toured all the local governments before the primary election, pledged to revisit each local government to express gratitude for their support and votes during the primary. The Senatorial Meeting which commenced in the Northern district of the state and hosted in Owo LGA, has in attendance, representatives from LGAs in the zone, Coordinators of MAJEMIMAYE, the Campaign Platform of the Candidate as well as their Secretaries.
During the meeting, Hon. Samuel Omotosho, the Organizing Secretary of the PRP, extended gratitude to the attendees and encouraged them to maintain confidence in the process to victory. He emphasized that while official campaigning has not yet commenced, consultations are ongoing. The party’s structure has been strengthened in all 18 local government areas and nearly all 203 wards of the state, with more stakeholders joining the team.
Rev. Emmanuel Alli, the Special Adviser on Strategic Planning, commended the party leadership in the Northern district for their dedication to the cause, stating, “We are contesting to win, and we are not backing down.” He highlighted the party’s resilience, noting that PRP was one of the few parties that contested the 2020 gubernatorial election while others yielded to external pressures.
Addressing concerns of voter apathy, Rev. Alli emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement. He urged attendees to mobilize individuals within their communities, including local governments, wards, streets, churches, and mosques, to join the movement. He emphasized that the party’s platform is dedicated to the emancipation of all residents of Ondo State from poverty and hardship as he tagged voting buying as an insult on the good personality of Sunshiners.
The leaders in the district further reiterated their supports for the Peoples Redemption Party and her Candidate in the forthcoming election and promised to deliver massive votes for the party.
