President Bola Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and commending her for her patience, courage, compassion and unwavering support throughout their years together.
Tinubu shared the tribute on Monday through his verified X account, reflecting on his relationship with the First Lady and the important role she has played in his personal and family life.
The President described Oluremi as a woman who has remained by his side through different stages of his life, sharing his burdens, offering counsel and providing emotional and spiritual support during challenging periods.
“Today, I celebrate the woman who has walked beside me with patience, grace and uncommon courage.
Àwọn àgbà sọ pé, ‘Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀.’ A good wife is her husband’s crown,” Tinubu wrote.
He said Oluremi had consistently demonstrated the qualities of a supportive and virtuous wife, describing her as a source of strength, understanding and encouragement throughout their marriage.
Tinubu recalled that during difficult periods, when the future appeared uncertain, Oluremi remained calm and supportive, often understanding his concerns even when he found it difficult to express them.
“In difficult times, when the future was uncertain, you stayed calm beside me and prayed with me,” the President stated.
He also praised the First Lady for being willing to offer him honest counsel, including on issues where her views might be difficult for him to accept.
“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” he said.
The President further acknowledged Oluremi’s contribution to the upbringing of their children and grandchildren, saying her commitment to faith, kindness and family values had left a lasting impact on the family.
“Our home bears the lasting imprint of your devotion. Our children and grandchildren have grown beneath the shelter of your prayers.
“They carry your values of faith and kindness wherever life takes them,” Tinubu said.
He also highlighted the First Lady’s humanitarian activities, particularly through the New Era Foundation and the Renewed Hope Initiative, saying her efforts had provided support to young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers across the country.
“Nigerians know you for your compassion, kindness, generosity of spirit and steadfast faith. I have watched you touch lives quietly and consistently, offering hope and support to those in need,” the President said.
Tinubu also acknowledged Oluremi’s advocacy on issues affecting people living with tuberculosis and other health challenges, describing her as a committed advocate for vulnerable members of society.
According to the President, her humanitarian activities have been guided by a broad commitment to helping people, regardless of ethnic, regional or religious differences.
“For you, compassion has never recognised the boundaries of tribe, region or religion,” he said.
Reflecting on their years together, Tinubu said the couple had faced difficult decisions, challenges and sacrifices, experiences which he said had strengthened their relationship.
He recalled the numerous discussions they had over difficult choices and the private sacrifices they made throughout their journey together, adding that laughter and prayer helped them through many of those moments.
“Laughter and prayer carried us through many of them,” he added.
The President concluded his birthday message by expressing his affection for the First Lady and reflecting on the journey that brought them together.
“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road
that led me to you. Through every mile, my heart has always remained at home with you,” Tinubu said.
He wished Oluremi many more years of good health, happiness and fulfilment as she marked her 66th birthday.
