“Satellite TV is Haram”: Sheikh Habeebullah Sparks Controversy with Fiery Sermon
In a sermon that has ignited widespread debate within Nigeria’s Muslim community, Sheikh Habeebullah Adam Al-Ilory, the Mudir of Markaz Agege, issued a bold condemnation of satellite television, declaring its usage a “pathway to hell” and labeling it a grievous sin.

Delivering his message with fervor, Sheikh Habeebullah proclaimed, “Whoever uses a satellite dish or installs a satellite dish in the house will not enter Al Jannah when they die because it’s a haram. It’s a written law.”
To reinforce his position, the cleric presented written documents outlining the perceived dangers and moral consequences of satellite TV consumption for devout Muslims. The statement has since gone viral, attracting both staunch support and sharp criticism.
While some followers applaud the Sheikh’s stand on moral discipline and spiritual purity, others argue that rejecting modern technology in today’s interconnected world is impractical and extreme.
Sheikh Habeebullah, son of the legendary Islamic scholar Sheikh Adam Abdullah Al-Ilory, remains a significant figure in Islamic education, steering the affairs of Markaz Agege with a firm stance on religious values.
