Professor Olorunfemi Oladapo Ogundele to Be Honoured for Distinguished Professor of Agricultural Excellence Award
D Chronicle Media has named Professor Olorunfemi Oladapo Ogundele as a recipient of the Distinguished Professor of Agricultural Excellence Award at the 2025 Excellence in Agribusiness Lecture and Award Ceremony.

Professor Olorunfemi Oladapo Ogundele is a highly respected scholar and rural development specialist whose work has influenced agricultural policy, research, and community development across Nigeria and Africa. With more than twenty-five years of experience, he has built a career dedicated to empowering youths, strengthening rural livelihoods, and promoting evidence-based agricultural transformation.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Olusegun Aganga Hall, International Conference Center, University of Ibadan, starting at 3:00 pm.
This year’s theme is “Growing Beyond Oil: Agriculture As a Key to Nigeria’s Economic Diversification.”
The keynote lecture will be delivered by Prof. Ogundele, while Mr. Omidokun Oyekunle, Chairman of the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN), Oyo State Chapter, will serve as Chairman. Special guests expected include Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, Oyo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, and Dr. Seye Oyeleye, DG, DAWN Commission.
As a Research Professor at the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER), Prof. Ogundele has led and contributed to numerous national and international projects involving partners such as the World Bank, USAID, IFAD, AfricaRice, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and ActionAid Nigeria. His work focuses on agricultural economics, rural finance, gender-responsive programming, productivity analysis, and value-chain development.
He is the founder of the NISER Legacy Research Group (NLRG), a platform that supports young researchers and advances policy-oriented research. With over fifty scholarly publications, Prof. Ogundele has made significant contributions to understanding farmer productivity, smallholder commercialization, climate resilience, and impact evaluation in agriculture.
Beyond research, he is active in community leadership, serving as the President of the NISER Muslim Ummah, founder of the Association of Senior Citizens in Tose–Moniya, and Aare Musulumi of Afin Akoko. He also practices livestock farming at a modest commercial scale.
The Distinguished Professor of Agricultural Excellence Award recognizes his remarkable contributions to agricultural development, policy reform, capacity building, and grassroots engagement.
