Oritsejafor Urges Tinubu to Step Aside in 2027, Says Nigerians Deserve Better

Former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has advised President Bola Tinubu not to seek re-election in 2027, arguing that the current administration has not met the expectations of Nigerians.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Oritsejafor said the country requires stronger leadership capable of addressing its economic and social challenges.

According to him, many Nigerians are experiencing increasing hardship and have seen little improvement in their living conditions, adding that the nation appears to be moving in the wrong direction.

The cleric stated that the president should carry out an honest assessment of his administration’s performance and avoid pursuing another term if meaningful progress cannot be achieved.

Oritsejafor also expressed support for recent remarks by Peter Obi suggesting that President Tinubu should consider stepping aside to allow alternative leadership to emerge.

Commenting on recent electoral outcomes involving the All Progressives Congress (APC), he raised concerns about public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral process, claiming that many citizens believe elections no longer reflect the true will of voters.

He further stated that if given the opportunity to speak directly with the president, he would advise him to reconsider seeking re-election and instead support individuals capable of driving national development.

Oritsejafor added that the church would continue to speak on issues affecting the country and hold public office holders accountable in the interest of Nigerians.
