Ondo East Youth Council Advocates ICT Centre, CBT Facility to Bridge Digital Divide
Determined to bridge the digital divide and empower local youth, the Ondo East Youth Council, led by President Comrade Akinkuolie Tomide, has demanded the immediate establishment of an ICT Training Centre and a Computer-Based Test (CBT) facility in the Local Government Area.

During a decisive meeting with the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT, Tomide Akinribido, held in Akure, the Youth Council made a strong case for the project, stressing that digital empowerment is no longer optional but essential.
The Council’s top executives—including Speaker Adumati Olalekan, Secretary Akinkahunsin Gbenga, and Organizing Secretary Adetimehin Olalekan—were present to reinforce the urgency of the proposal.
Comrade Tomide emphasized that the centre would not only provide crucial ICT skills but also prepare youths for opportunities in today’s tech-driven economy. He insisted on active youth involvement in both the planning and execution phases of ICT projects in the state.
The Council also applauded Hon. Akinribido’s role in driving ICT development in Ondo State, particularly in organizing upcoming training programs. However, they maintained that Ondo East must be prioritized in the rollout of such initiatives.
In response, Hon. Akinribido acknowledged the Council’s bold stance and assured them of the government’s readiness to act. He affirmed that the proposal would be pursued with the seriousness it deserves.
The meeting concluded with both parties aligned on the need for swift action, signaling a new phase of proactive youth engagement and digital advancement in Ondo East.
