…Oladiji describes elder statesman’s death as a monumental loss.
The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon(Chief) Olamide Oladiji,has led principal officers, Honourable Members and senior staff of the Assembly on a condolence visit to the residence of the late elder statesman and Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The visit was to commiserate with the family of the deceased and express the Assembly’s sympathy over the passing of the revered statesman, whose contributions to the development of Ondo State,Yorubaland and Nigeria remain significant.
Speaking during the visit, Oladiji described the death of Pa Fasoranti as a monumental loss, not only to his immediate family but also to the people of Ondo State, the Yoruba nation and Nigeria as a whole. He noted that the late elder statesman was a symbol of integrity, courage, patriotism and principled leadership.
The Speaker said Pa Fasoranti’s unwavering commitment to democracy, good governance, justice and the welfare of the people had earned him widespread respect across political and generational divides. He added that his exemplary life and contributions to nation-building would continue to inspire present and future generations of leaders.
Oladiji, on behalf of the lawmakers, principal officers and the entire management and staff of the Assembly, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, praying that God would grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. He stressed that although the elder statesman’s death had created a vacuum, his legacies of selfless service and patriotism would remain indelible.
Other Members further urged the family to take solace in the remarkable life of the deceased, whose principles and dedication to public service would remain a source of inspiration to generations yet unborn. They reaffirmed the Assembly’s solidarity with the family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed elder statesman.l
Responding on behalf of the Fasoranti family,Olufunmilayo Fasoranti,
expressed profound appreciation to the Assembly for the condolence visit. She described the gesture as thoughtful and comforting, noting that the Assembly’s presence demonstrated genuine concern for the family during this period.
She particularly thanked Oladiji for leading the delegation and for the kind words spoken in honour of the deceased. According to her, the visit and expressions of sympathy had provided emotional support to the family, reaffirming the enduring bonds between the late elder statesman and the people and institutions of Ondo State.
She also appreciated the Assembly for recognising the contributions of Pa Fasoranti to society and for celebrating his life of service, integrity and commitment to the common good. Olufunmilayo prayed that God would reward the delegation for their show of love and solidarity and grant all those present the grace to continue to uphold the values for which the late statesman stood.
