The Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Information has lauded the ongoing repositioning of the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation, OSRC Media Group, and pledged continued legislative support to strengthen its operations.
The commendation was given during an oversight visit to the corporation in Akure, where the Committee assessed its activities, staff welfare, revenue drive and efforts to improve broadcasting services.
The delegation was led by the Committee Chairman, Hon. Olatunji Ifabiyi, alongside Hon. Temitope Akomolafe, Hon. Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju, Hon. Felix Afe, Hon. Nelson Akinsuroju, and Hon. Olajide Oguntodu.
In his remarks, Hon. Ifabiyi praised management and staff for sustaining OSRC through its 50 years of existence. He described the appointment of the Chairman, Mr Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson, as “a round peg in a round hole”.
He commended the improvements in staff welfare, operational efficiency, and broadcasting quality, and assured the corporation that the Assembly would continue to support its transformation.
Hon. Felix Afe commended management for converting contract and freelance staff to full employment, promoting workers, and prioritizing welfare.
Hon. Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju applauded the management’s clear presentation on activities and finances. He noted that despite budget constraints, OSRC had recorded notable achievements and assured that the Assembly would explore legislative and budgetary support.
Hon. Temitope Akomolafe lauded the restoration of 24-hour broadcasting, while Hon. Olajide Oguntodu praised the business-oriented and teamwork approach adopted by the management, saying it could serve as a model for other government agencies.
Earlier, the Chairman of OSRC Media Group, Mr Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson said his administration has repositioned the corporation around three priorities people, products, and revenue.
On welfare, he disclosed that 40 contract and freelance workers were transitioned to full employment in 2025, promotions were carried out, welfare packages provided, and the staff clinic revitalized.
On products, he said operations have been stabilized with 24-hour transmission on TV and radio, improved programme scheduling to accommodate diverse languages and audiences, upgraded technical facilities, installation of a new transmitter for Alalaye FM, and provision of backup power systems.
He added that the corporation has strengthened advertising, expanded its presence on social media and digital streaming platforms to reach audiences beyond Ondo State, improved programme quality, initiated strategic partnerships, and expanded its TV service on digital platforms. Efforts are also ongoing to revive the station’s archival library.
Odusola, however, listed funding gaps for staff training, outdated equipment, and need for further digital upgrades as major challenges. He said OSRC will seek increased funding in its 2027 budget to address them.
He appealed to the Assembly for continued legislative and budgetary support, especially in staff capacity building, equipment modernization, and digital transformation, to sustain progress and deliver better broadcasting services to Ondo people.
