Ondo State House of Assembly has frowned at the activities of the land grabbers in the state despite that the Anti Land Grabbing Bill has been passed into law and was assented to by Mr. Governor.

The house at the plenary sitting who called on the law enforcement agencies to swift into action to ensure safe environment for properties owners in the state, stated that the house has received over 10 petitions on cases of land grabbing.
“ We recall that this House of Assembly passed a bill on Anti Land Grabbing and Mr Governor assented to it, hoping that criminal activities would be curtailed on people’s properties, but the activities of these criminals and land grabbers have messed up our constituencies – killing and destroying peoples belongings
“We have received more than 10 petitions from various constituencies and local government areas from January till date,” the speaker said.
The speaker, therefore, called on all the law enforcement agencies in the state to swift into action and implement the recently passed anti-land grabbing law.
He added that anyone caught culpable damaging other people’s property should be made to face the law within 48 hours.
To this effect, the house in a resolution read by the speaker, set up an eight man committee to be chaired by Hon Ololade Gbegudu, the lawmaker representing Okitipupa Constituency 2, to investigate the petitions received and report to the house in two weeks.
The House of the Assembly also paid a tribute to late Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, who died on 4th January 2025 and was buried on 8th February 2025. And a minute of silence was observed in his honour.
Subsequently the Speaker dissolved all standing committees till further notice.
