Ondo Assembly Debunks Calling for Aiyedatiwa’s Resignation

Ondo Assembly Debunks Calling for Aiyedatiwa’s Resignation.

Contrary to the rumour making the rounds in some national dailies and online platforms that the Ondo State House of Assembly at its plenary called for the resignation of the Deputy Governor, Hon.Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the leadership of the House has described the news as malicious and false.

Reacting to the purported report credited to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Olatunji Oshati described the news as a figment of the imagination of the peddlers of such rumour.

According to the statement, the resolution reached after the meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu never included calling for the resignation of the Deputy Governor by the President, rather it included thus:
*That there would be no dissolution of the state executive council,
*That the party leadership and structure remains intact,
*That the House of Assembly leadership remains intact,
*That Hon.Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa continues to perform the functions of the office of the Deputy Governor.

Oladiji, who later urged everyone to shealth their swords and think of better ways to accelerate the much needed development of Ondo State in the interest of all and sundry, warned politicians and other gladiators fanning the mischievous embers of war, saying the House of Assembly would not hesitate to deploy the full weight of the law in calling them to order.

The Speaker, therefore, called on the general public to disregard the report credited to the House that the Deputy Governor should tender his resignation letter, describing it as mischievous and wrongly quoted out of context.

“Apparently, this is the handiwork of the fifth columnists that are bent on throwing Ondo State into anarchy,” he said.

Oladiji, hereby assured the people of Ondo State that the House would continue to maintain the existing harmony between the executive and legislative arms of Government in the overall interest of the people.

Signed: Hon. Olatunji Oshati,
Chairman, House Committee on Information,
Ondo State House of Assembly.
