Ondo: Amotekun Arrests 300 Suspects in Three Months

The Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, has declared that the Corps is fully prepared to prevent any influx of bandits into the state.

In an unequivocal statement, he announced that Amotekun has apprehended and paraded over 300 suspected criminals in just three months, covering approximately 15 locations within the state’s 18 Local Government Areas.

This proactive approach is an absolute necessity in response to the escalating threat of banditry in the South-West region. Ondo State authorities are steadfast in their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our citizens.

Adeleye emphasized that many of the suspects arrested, particularly those in border communities, are connected to serious crimes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, and housebreaking.

Discussing the agency’s relentless efforts to combat crime, Adeleye expressed gratitude for the divine protection afforded to him and his officers during the Yuletide season. He acknowledged the Ondo State government, under the strong leadership of Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for empowering Amotekun with a conducive environment to operate effectively.

“I want to extend my deepest appreciation to the people of Ondo State for their critical support and actionable intelligence,” he stated emphatically. “We depend on grassroots intelligence, which has been pivotal in our achievements. Over the last three months, we apprehended and paraded more than 300 suspects across about 15 locations.”

He further declared, “The vast majority of these individuals were arrested for serious offenses like kidnapping, armed robbery, and housebreaking. Many have already faced prosecution, and although some cases have been resolved, several suspects remain in correctional centers throughout the state.”

Adeleye also spotlighted the vital contributions of Amotekun ambassadors who operate discreetly within communities as part of the agency’s intelligence unit. These individuals are proactively gathering intelligence to identify and neutralize criminals collaborating with illegal activities.

“This system has produced remarkable outcomes,” he asserted confidently. “Every criminal we have apprehended is directly linked to the grassroots intelligence reports from our alert citizens. Ultimately, addressing the challenges of domestic security mandates effective, homegrown solutions tailored to combat our ongoing local criminal issues decisively.”
