NO SAFE HAVEN FOR ERRING POLICE OFFICERS- Ondo CP

The Ondo State Police Command has pledged to collaborate with the Ondo State House of Assembly towards ridding the state of crimes. The state Commissioner of Police Mr Undie Adie gave this indication on Thursday during an interface with Lawmakers of the Ondo State House of Assembly. Following the reported release of arrested robbers at Ikare Akoko among other crimes, and the suspicious complicity of police in the act, the Police Chief was summoned to the House along with the Divisional Police Officer of Ikare and Irun Akoko. Speaking on the incident, the Commissioner of Police noted that the Police is on the trail of the escapee robber adding that one of his accomplices has been tracked and arrested. The Police Commissioner vowed that any of his officers who is complicit in the release of the robber will not be spared. Speaking, the Lawmakers commended the Police Chief for the noticeable improvement in security issues especially kidnapping along the notorious Owo/Akoko axis urging him to do more in order to sustain the tempo.
The Lawmakers who spoke in turns drew the attention of the Police Commissioner to other thriving crimes such as cultism, rape, robbery among others. They equally drew the attention of the Police Chief to the collaboration of his men in aiding and abetting crimes.

Responding, the Commissioner pledged to do more in order to sustain the tempo of the current war on crimes in the nooks and crannies of Ondo State. He sought the cooperation of the Lawmakers as people’s representatives in tackling criminality in the state. Mr Adie called on Traditional Rulers, community leaders with useful information on perpetrators of crimes to feel free to approach his office adding that his dedicated lines are open to the public. He equally promised to treat as appropriate, any concrete proofs against his men who aid and abet criminals.
On the recent murder of Mrs Olakunrin on Ore/Lagos axis of Ondo State, the Commissioner of Police said progress has been made in their investigation while their findings will be made public very soon. He said the Police has succeeded in ridding the Ore/ Lagos highway and the forests of criminal elements.
He enjoined traditional rulers and community leaders to be more vigilant and report any strange movements to the Police especially as the yuletide approaches. He promised to make himself available anytime he is called by the House of Assembly.

In their response, the Lawmakers promised to join hands with the police to make Ondo State a peaceful place to live in.
The session which had in attendance, other members,was presided over by the Majority Leader of the House, Honourable Jamiu Sulaimon Maito who represented the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Oleyelogun Bamidele David.
