NIPOST Unveils Bold Reforms to Drive Digital Transformation and Cashless Operations
The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has announced sweeping reforms aimed at repositioning the agency as a modern, innovative, and digitally-driven postal institution.

In a statement released on Monday by its Director of Corporate Communications, Franklin Alao, NIPOST revealed that the reforms, themed “Change of Renewed Hope Berths at NIPOST Shores,” are aligned with global best practices and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
According to the agency, the reforms are designed to meet the evolving demands of Nigeria’s fast-growing digital economy, with a focus on innovation, accountability, service excellence, and enhanced value delivery.
A key component of the reform package is the transition to a fully cashless system. “Beginning July 1, 2025, all Post Office counters nationwide will no longer accept cash payments. Customers will be required to use approved electronic channels for all transactions,” the statement emphasized.
The cashless initiative is central to NIPOST’s modernization strategy, aiming to deliver safer, faster, and more transparent services across the country.
NIPOST also expressed gratitude to the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, for his supportive leadership, and acknowledged the strategic foresight of the NIPOST Board Chairman, Barrister Isaac Kekemeke, along with the Postmaster General/CEO, Tola Odeyemi, for spearheading reforms, staff welfare initiatives, and capacity building.
Additionally, the reforms will introduce a performance-based reward and recognition system to motivate excellence among employees, coupled with strict disciplinary measures to uphold integrity.
With these transformative steps, NIPOST aims to become a dynamic, technology-driven institution at the forefront of Nigeria’s digital revolution, reaffirming its commitment to:
“Connecting Nigeria, Delivering Solutions, and Improving Lives.”
