NIGERIA’S ECONOMY: AGRICULTURE HOLDS THE ACE FOR IT’S REVIVAL- EXPERT

The managing director, Ore-Irele Oil Palm PLC, Mr. Banjo Emmanuel Eto, has said that agriculture sector hold the ace for the country economy to be revived.
He made this known, while welcoming members of the House of Assembly committee on Commerce and industry to his office at Ore-Okitipupa Road.
The MD who appreciated the committee for their visit, said the company has made tremendous progress within the last three 3 years and thanked Governor Akeredolu for giving agriculture the attention it deserves in the state.
While emphasizing that they will continue to do so every year in order to have a guaranteed future, he also hinted that the company has replanted over 300 hectres of seedlings with the intention to plant another 100 hecters before the end of the year.
He however sought the support of the committee to help the company do more especially in the areas of getting more lands and security to prevent enchroachers from getting into their plantations.
In his response, The Chairman, House committee on Commerce and Industry, Hon. Rasheed Elegbeleye commended the management of the company for their efforts to boost the state’s economy, he noted that the oil palm industry is very significant to the nation’s economy as it provides raw materials for the food, Cosmetics, Pharmaceuticals, Plastics and Bio-energy industries.
He also appreciated founding fathers of the company for the investment which the state is still benefiting till date and urged drivers of the economy to focus on agriculture in order to stimulate national growth.
The chairman while thanking the state government and management team of the oil palm company for revitalizing the sector, he assured of policies that will aid the company’s operations particularly in getting more lands for planting.
Other members reminded the company of its social responsibility to host communities, such as employment of more youths of the state for effective service delivery and more revenue generation.
