NCS Seizes Contraband Worth N77.4 Million in Ogun
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has taken significant steps in combating smuggling by seizing contraband valued at N77.476 million in Ogun State between January 1 and January 27.

Mr. Mohammed Shuaibu, the Area Comptroller of the NCS Ogun 1 Area Command, shared this encouraging news during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Ota, Ogun State.
Shuaibu highlighted that these seizures serve as a testament to the command’s commitment to promoting fair trade practices and ensuring compliance with NCS regulations. The confiscated items included 2,002 bags of 50 kg foreign rice, 6,180 cutlasses, and 6,375 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), among others.
“Our aim at the Ogun 1 Area Command is to engage with those involved in smuggling and encourage them to reconsider their choices,” he stated. “We believe that by embracing legitimate trade, they can contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s economy.”
He also reiterated the command’s dedication to protecting the nation’s borders and fostering a more secure trading environment. Shuaibu encouraged the public to join efforts with the NCS by providing reliable and timely information, which can play a crucial role in addressing smuggling and other economic crimes at the borders.
