Months After Tragedy, Quintuplets Leave Hospital as Fasua Delivers on Support Promise
The Executive Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Hon. Dr. Gbenga Timothy Fasua, has fulfilled his earlier commitment to support the care and wellbeing of the quintuplets born in Akure following the tragic death of their mother during childbirth.

After receiving reports of the incident months ago, Hon. Fasua visited the hospital to sympathise with the family and assess the condition of the newborns. During the visit, he assured the family of immediate assistance, including the provision of food, essential supplies and other support needed for the babies’ care.
True to his promise, the chairman later returned with relief materials and continued to provide support throughout the babies’ stay at the hospital.
Following months of medical care and intervention, the quintuplets were successfully discharged amid celebration and appreciation from healthcare workers, government officials and members of the family.
Hospital management expressed gratitude to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and Hon. Dr. Gbenga Timothy Fasua for their timely intervention and compassionate response, describing their support as instrumental to the children’s wellbeing.
Representing the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Banji Ajaka, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ajiji, also commended the governor, hospital personnel and Hon. Fasua for working together to ensure the successful outcome.
The family thanked Hon. Fasua for standing by them during a difficult period and described the support as a source of hope after their painful loss.
Speaking during the discharge, Hon. Fasua thanked God for preserving the lives of the children and appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for his support. He also praised the hospital management led by Chief Medical Director, Prof. Olagbuji, for their dedication and professionalism.
While expressing sympathy over the loss of the children’s mother, the chairman congratulated the family and assured them of continued support as the babies grow.
The successful discharge of the quintuplets reflects the impact of compassion, responsive leadership and collective support in protecting vulnerable lives.
