Kidnapped Couple Regain Freedom as Amotekun Launches Daring Night Rescue in Ondo Forest
A couple, Mr. and Mrs. Sanusi Kehinde, have regained their freedom after being rescued by operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, following a swift overnight operation in a forest hideout.

The victims narrated their ordeal after the rescue, describing how suspected kidnappers ambushed them shortly after they arrived at their residence in Ilu-Abo community.
According to Mr. Kehinde, the incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. when he and his wife returned home, unaware that armed men had already positioned themselves around their residence waiting to strike.
He said the attackers pounced on them as they attempted to alight from their vehicle, assaulted them and forcefully marched them into the bush.
The victim described the experience as traumatic, revealing that he sustained machete injuries and suffered physical assault during the abduction.
Despite the ordeal, he praised Amotekun operatives for their rapid response, disclosing that his wife was rescued shortly after the incident was reported.
Kehinde commended the corps for its professionalism and commitment, noting that the commander personally participated in the rescue operation deep inside the forest.
He also appreciated the agency for providing him with free medical treatment after he was rescued, describing the gesture as compassionate and commendable.
Mrs. Kehinde, while recounting her experience, said four armed men surrounded their vehicle moments after they arrived from Oba-Ile and pointed a gun at her before dispossessing the couple of their valuables.
She explained that the kidnappers beat her and forced both of them to trek through the forest before they unexpectedly sighted local hunters and Amotekun operatives close to a road.
Sensing an opportunity, she raised an alarm which attracted the attention of the security team, leading to her immediate rescue.
According to her, she was taken to a health facility for treatment but remained distressed over her husband’s whereabouts throughout the night.
She said her fears were eventually relieved the following morning when she received news that he had also been rescued safely.
The couple expressed gratitude to Amotekun operatives, local hunters, traditional rulers of Ilu-Abo and Alayere communities, as well as residents who supported the rescue efforts.
They also commended the Ondo State Government for strengthening local security operations and supporting initiatives aimed at combating kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.
