International Youth Day: Youth Are Catalysts for Development — Amb. Akintayo Calls for More Inclusivity in Government and Leadership
As we mark International Youth Day 2025, I, Ambassador Akintunde Akintayo, Founder of the Akin Akintayo Foundation, reaffirm my belief that youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow — we are catalysts for development today. Our creativity, energy, and innovation are indispensable tools in building a prosperous and sustainable nation.
I deeply appreciate the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for recognizing the capacity of young people and appointing youth into significant positions within their administrations. These steps reflect an encouraging shift toward inclusive governance.
However, beyond appointments, we must continue to create deliberate pathways for more youth involvement in decision-making, policy formulation, and leadership at all levels. Our nation thrives when its young people are given the space, resources, and trust to contribute meaningfully to national growth.
I urge every young Nigerian to rise to the challenge; to be informed, involved, and inspired. Together, we can drive positive change, strengthen our communities, and ensure that Nigeria’s future is brighter than ever.
