I’m Not a member of APC —SDP Candidate, Duro Dolapo

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Ondo State House of Assembly, Akoko South West Constituent II, Dr Duro Dolapo, on Tuesday said he was no more a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as claimed in some quarters.

In a chat with pressmen in his country home, Supare Akoko, Dolapo noted that he dumped the APC after the party’s primary was marred with egregious irregularities.

He said, “l left the APC after the irregularities that marred May 27, 2022 primary. The candidate that won the primary election was imposed on members which makes some aggrieved aspirants dumped the party. After leaving APC, I joined SDP”.

“Saying that my name still feature in the party register has nothing to do with me because I’m an ordinary party member. I’m not an elected nor executive member who need to tender letter of resignation.

Dolapo stated further that APC was Jittery of its looming failure in the forthcoming March 18 election, adding the party was doing everything possible to discredit him.

“My growing popularity and overwhelming public support had given me a edge above other candidates in which I know I will win the March 18 election”.

He said the causes of this hatred was the meeting organized by the community last Sunday, where some stakeholders we’re said to have ordered residents of the community to vote for APC candidate.

The meeting which was held at the community Hall in Supare ended in fiasco as they were ordered to vote for APC candidate. As they mentioned the candidate name, it drew the ire of some residents who stage a walk out from the venue of the meeting”.

Dr. Dolapo said, “some powerful forces” who has premonition of their imminent failure were the ones making all efforts to subvert the will of the people.

He stated further that “he was surprised when the community leaders of the town called us for a meeting. Initially, I thought it was a peace meeting among all the political parties’s candidates. We were being told that they have a meeting in Akure and were told that APC candidate should be vote for. It was at this point our people read the handwriting on the wall and walked out from the venue of the meeting, saying that nobody can didctate for them”.

Dolapo urged his members to ignore the “noise of the opposition party” noting that he is sure of victory in the House of Assembly poll.
