Hon. Dayo Awude to Deliver Lecture at D Chronicle Media Ventures 13th Anniversary Celebration
D Chronicle Media Ventures will mark 13 years of impactful journalism with its Anniversary Lecture and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 30th August, 2026 at 2:00 PM prompt. The event will be held at the OSDPC Multipurpose Event Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State.
This year’s theme is Agenda 2027: Leadership, Accountability, Progress. The theme is designed to provoke robust conversations on the kind of leadership Nigeria needs ahead of 2027 and the role of accountability in driving sustainable progress.
The Guest Lecturer is Hon. Dayo Awude, former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Ondo State. He is an engaging author of many books, poet, public speaker, and Protocol and Public Relations consultant with a demonstrated track record in leadership and public service.
Hon. Awude holds a Master’s degree in Managerial Psychology from the University of Ibadan and is currently pursuing another Master’s degree in Public Policy and Governance at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko. He previously served as Head of Information, Protocol, and Public Relations Unit at Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko between 2005 and 2009, where he introduced innovations that enhanced the university’s information system and public relations profile.
In public service, he was appointed Chief of Protocol to the Ondo State Government in February 2009 during the administration of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko. He later served as Chairman of the Ondo State Scholarship Board from November 2013 to August 2015, where he secured fully funded scholarships for 50 indigene students of Ondo State at Wesley University of Science and Technology outside the state’s regular scheme. In December 2015, he was appointed Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports under the same administration of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, a position he held till 2017. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Liwat Creations Limited, with interests in Publishing, Training and Consultancy, Haulage and Logistics, and Real Estate.
Beyond office, Hon. Awude is known for community service. He has personally funded 23 projects in Akure North and Akure South, including the construction of a modern six-room toilet facility and reconstruction of the school hall at Alakunre Comprehensive High School, reroofing of classrooms at Eji-Oba High School, Oba-Ile, and potable water projects in 13 communities in Akure North. He is currently undertaking the renovation and upgrade of the Lawn Tennis Court at Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure.
His leadership journey began as a student at the University of Ibadan where he served as President of the Archaeology and Anthropology Students Association in 1995, member of the Students Representative Council, and Chairman of the Council of Chairmen and Secretaries of the Faculty of Arts in 1996. He was honoured by the United Nations in 2014 for outstanding commitment to good governance and community service, and he spoke at the side event of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Bonn, Germany in June 2014.
He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and one-time state chairman of the NIPR Ondo State Chapter, Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators, Association of Nigerian Authors, Nigerian Institute of Management, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Administrators of Nigeria.
The Chairman of the occasion is Prince Eni Akinsola, Chief Press Secretary to the former Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Public Analyst and Chief Operating Officer of Agogo Publishers Ltd.
Special Guests expected are Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of Amotekun Corps, Ondo State, and Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo State Governor and many more.
Royal Fathers of the Day are HRM Rotimi Obamuwagun Nwade I, Olumoru of Imoru Kingdom, and HRM Oba Engr. Ademola Adebiyi Oyinbade Olanipekun III, PhD, Oloba of Uso while the Special Guest of Honour is His Excellency Dr. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, Governor of Ondo State.
The event will feature a keynote lecture, presentation of awards to distinguished Nigerians, and the launching of the D Chronicle 13th Anniversary Commemorative Magazine.
For 13 years, D Chronicle Media Ventures has promoted truth, knowledge, and national development through Chronicle TV, Chronicle Online, and Chronicle Magazine. The 2026 anniversary will bring together policymakers, civil society, students, media practitioners, and the general public to interrogate leadership and chart the conversation for Agenda 2027.
