EFCC Transfers 753 Recovered Housing Units from Emefiele to Housing Ministry
The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has officially taken over a 753-unit housing estate in Abuja, recovered from former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

The handover was carried out by the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc Ahmed Dangiwa, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi. The development was confirmed in a press release signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Salisu Badamasi Haiba.
Minister Dangiwa commended the EFCC’s anti-corruption efforts and emphasized the importance of channeling recovered assets towards public benefit. “This marks a significant milestone in ensuring that recovered assets directly benefit Nigerians,” he said.
He further announced that a joint inspection with the EFCC will assess the estate’s condition, followed by structural integrity tests and a technical evaluation to determine the cost of completing key infrastructure—fencing, roads, drainage systems, a police post, shopping areas, and recreational facilities.
Dangiwa stated that the estate would be made available for public sale and special government allocations through transparent processes, including national advertising and the Renewed Hope Portal. “We are committed to making this a model of accountability and public benefit,” he added.
EFCC Chairman Olukoyede described the handover as a reflection of the success of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the estate, sitting on 150,462.86 square meters at Plot 109, Cadastral Zone C09, Lokogoma District, was forfeited after investigations proved it was illegitimately acquired.
“We will not allow looted assets to be looted again,” Olukoyede said, stressing that the EFCC would monitor the project and report progress directly to the President.
