Drunken Driver Kills Four Soldiers in Lagos
In a tragic incident, at least four soldiers have been confirmed dead after a suspected drunken driver crashed violently into them during their monthly road jogging exercise outside their barracks on Friday morning.
The soldiers, stationed at Myoung Barracks in the Morocco area of Shomolu, Lagos, were engaged in their routine when this reckless act occurred.

Eyewitnesses report that the vehicle, a Toyota, was driven by three young men who were speeding at the time of the collision. The impact was catastrophic, resulting in the deaths of four soldiers, with several others sustaining serious injuries.
Priscilla, an eyewitness from the area, provided a detailed account to the media, revealing that the young men attempted to flee the scene after the accident but were quickly apprehended.
She described how the soldiers responded with force, beating the men severely and vandalizing their vehicle. Furthermore, it was reported that one of the young men sustained a stab wound during the chaotic confrontation.
“This incident happened this morning while the soldiers were on their monthly road walk, and the young men rammed into them right in front of the barracks,” Priscilla stated. “Four soldiers are dead, and many others are seriously injured. After the crash, the boys tried to escape but were apprehended and brutally beaten, while their vehicle was destroyed. One of the boys was allegedly stabbed by the soldiers.”
The incident has sparked alarm among local residents, raising serious concerns about their safety in light of the violent confrontation.
As of now, Olabisi Ayeni, the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 81 Division, and Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, have yet to respond to inquiries.
