Democracy Day: Chief Oluwaseyi Gabriel Ogundare Calls for Upholding Democracy

On the occasion of the 2024 Democracy Day, Chief Oluwaseyi Gabriel Ogundare, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has made a heartfelt appeal to all Nigerians to help uphold the principles of democracy.

Ogundare emphasized that Nigeria’s democracy was hard-fought, and it is crucial for every citizen to play an active role in sustaining it by voting during elections and supporting candidates committed to good governance.

Hon. Ogundare underscored the importance of combating voter apathy and ensuring free and fair elections. He stated, “We must ensure that to sustain our hard-fought democracy, we kick against voter apathy and prioritize free and fair elections, which is our duty as citizens of Nigeria. We must also support political candidates who have the interest of the state at heart.” His call to action highlights the vital role of citizen participation in maintaining a healthy democratic system.

In preparation for the upcoming Ondo governorship election, Ogundare urged the electorate in Ondo State to support Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the APC’s standard flag bearer. He described Aiyedatiwa as a true democrat who will bring more dividends of democracy to the people of Ondo. Ogundare’s endorsement reflects his belief in Aiyedatiwa’s capacity to deliver effective governance and address the needs of the populace.

The Imoru-born politician also expressed his hope for uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria. He prayed for a continued democratic process that benefits all Nigerians and strengthens the nation’s democratic foundations.
