D Chronicle Media Ventures has announced that Hon. Michael Afolabi Olakunle (Mikey) will be honoured with the Youth Development and Leadership Award at the upcoming 2026 Fizzy Lecture and Award Ceremony.

The prestigious event, themed “Southwest Security Synergy: Amotekun’s Role in Regional Stability and Development,” is scheduled to hold on February 22, 2026, at the OSDPC Event Hall, Ijapo Estate, Akure, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The lecture will feature Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, Commandant of the Amotekun Corps, Ondo State, as the Guest Speaker, while Hon. Dayo Awude, former Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, will serve as Chairman of the occasion. The event will also host distinguished personalities including Hon. Otunba Timehin Adelegbe, MHR representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, as Guest of Honour, and Ondo State Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, as Special Guest of Honour.

Hon. Michael Afolabi Olakunle is being recognized for his outstanding contributions to youth empowerment, enterprise development, and public service. Popularly known as Mikey, he has earned respect as a dynamic entrepreneur and forward-thinking leader with strong roots in Akure.

With business interests spanning energy, automotive commerce, technology, sports management, and international trade, Olakunle has demonstrated exceptional capacity for leadership and innovation.

His professional footprint includes operating a gas station, managing a car dealership, developing mobile applications, working as an NFF-registered football scout, and serving as the African representative for CI World Trade Company S.A.S, where he supports international commercial and logistics operations across the continent.

In 2024, he was appointed Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State, a role through which he contributes to policy support, development initiatives, and strategic engagements aimed at promoting sustainable growth within the state.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Olakunle distinguished himself during the Ondo State gubernatorial campaign through notable dedication and organizational support, strengthening grassroots mobilization and enhancing campaign visibility across several local government areas.
