Corruption: Olukoyede Advocates for Collaborative Solutions
Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has addressed a significant challenge in Nigerian society: the tendency of citizens to criticize corruption while simultaneously supporting corrupt leaders.

During a recent visit to the Centre for Crisis Communication in Abuja, he pointed out that although many are vocal about the issue of rampant corruption, they often back individuals accused of corrupt practices when legal actions occur.
Olukoyede remarked, “Everyone is expressing concern about corruption in Nigeria… However, when we investigate high-profile cases and bring people to court, we often see the same individuals displaying support for those leaders.”
He emphasized the importance of a collaborative approach to combating corruption. This includes not only enforcing the law but also implementing meaningful policy changes and enhancing the welfare of citizens.
The EFCC is proactively shifting its focus toward preventing corruption by addressing financial leakages, aiming to create a more transparent and accountable system before issues arise. This approach fosters a united front against corruption and cultivates a culture of integrity within society.
