Comrade Goke Williams: The Best Personality for YPP Deputy Governorship Ticket
As the former Aspirant of the House of Representatives of Akure North/South Federal Constituency under the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in 2021, the name: Goke Williams, resonates throughout the length and breadth of Ondo State; as a vibrant and intelligent young man. He epitomises the sterling qualities of an exceptional leader, and he is the best candidate for the position of Deputy Governor of Ondo State under the party’s ticket. As a grassroots politician and a home-based youth, Goke understands the local dynamics and challenges faced by the Ondo State youths and the entire residence – this provides him with a unique perspective on how to address their needs effectively. In fact, he has not only written his blueprint for a prosperous Ondo State, but also for the entire country.
Goke Williams was born in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Nigeria, as Olagoke Emmanuel Fagorola, whose father’s name was William F. Fagorola – the name he later adopted officially. He is popularly known as: ‘Fagor the Great’. He attended the prestigious Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure. Thereafter, proceeded to the University of Ilorin, where he bagged a first degree with honours in Linguistics/English at 23. He furthered his education abroad, where he studied International Relations at the Edexcel University, and he came out with flying colours as the overall best graduating student in his department. He equally procured a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism and Programme Presentation; endorsed by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and a brilliant certificate from the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, ASCON. To his credit are many other certificates in leadership, communication skills, empowerment, advocacy and development. His leadership research spans over two decades. Over the years, he has built a solid career both in the teaching and the media.
Goke’s advocacy started from the Unilorin as student leader and also as President of Public and International Relations Students’ Association. He has fought for his communities in Akure through the finest weapons called the powers of pen and oratory in many areas to include power shortages and amongst others. He has equally projected many Akures to include: late Amb Olu Agbi (Asiwaju of Akure Land), late Prof Kole Omotoso – literary icon etc, through his peculiar writing and speaking skills. He is, undoubtedly, a doyen in the art of public speaking.
His working experience with the Government of Dr Olusegun Mimiko as one of the 3is Change Agents, has boosted his selfless communual services. In fact, his brilliance was further demonstrated as being the candidate with the best result (8.5 over 10) amongst the graduates that sat for the interview.
His first book: Bible Books Proper Pronunciation with CD, featured the comment of Barack Obama, the former US President, about him, while his first motivational CD: You Are the World Greatest, featured a comment about him from Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the former Nigerian Vice President. Late Gani Fawehinmi, the finest African lawyer ever, met with him at 20. At 33, Goke, bagged the Mr Universe Award. At 28, he was elected National PRO of Oyemekun Grammar School Akure Alumni Association, and currently serving in the capacity of one of its exofficio members at the global level – the youngest amongst them all. He is currently serving as one of Executive Members of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Ondo State Chapter – also, the youngest amongst them all. In 2028, Goke, was named the Celestial Church of Christ Ondo State Best Interpreter. I could go on and on.
Goke’s generosity is immeasurable, even in his little capacity: his books and CDs have been given out free for many people, also including institutions. His free online text, audio, and video motivational messages have tremendously blessed many across the globe. In 2013, he visited Agoireti Community, the settlement of the less privileged, and blessed them not only with motivation, but also with cash, food and other material things, even as young graduate. He went there through his little savings from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Oh, what a born giver and unique being Akure is blessed with! He has since visited Agoireti again and other less privileged homes.
Conclusively, his political participation is premised on prophecies coupled with his unconditional love for the masses and a burning desire for a better society. His core values are discipline, humility, respect, excellence, transparency, loyalty, and accessibility – all would be evident in his selfless service if given the party’s ticket as Ondo State Deputy Governor/Running Mate of the Governorship Candidate, John Otitoju Akinmurele. I heartily request your unalloyed support in all ramifications to make this divine dream of his a reality. The vision of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) is to build an egalitarian society anchored on Nigerian citizens as the prime resource driven by mentally progressive and young innovative leaders without greed. This laudable vision of this great party of his aligns perfectly with his humble personality. Indeed, it is going to be a round peg in a round hole.
