A Chairmanship Aspirant for the forthcoming Local government election in Ekiti state, Hon Ogunleye Gbenga, who is he vying for the chairmanship of Irepodun Ifelodun Local Government Area, under the All Progressive Congress has promised to empower the youths of the Local Government Area.

He made this known during an
interview with journalists recently in Ado Ekiti.

Hon Ogunleye is a good example of youth needed in Ekiti State because, he posseses some outstanding attributes.
Ogunleye has been putting smiles on the faces of many people in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Hon Ogunleye had empowered many youths in his council Area in the past.

He also promised to support farmers through farmers support initiatives.

The hopeful is a foremostl and a dynamic youth in Ekiti State.

He possess these qualities;
Honesty and Integrity.
The supreme quality of leadership is unquestionably integrity.
Honesty and integrity are important ingredients which make a good leader. How can you expect your followers to be honest when you lack these qualities yourself? Ogunleye is a “leader per excellent”
Leaders succeed when they stick to their values and core beliefs and without ethics, this will not be possible.Ogunleye is a man who has confidence,
to be an effective leader, you should be confident enough to ensure that other follows your commands. If you are not sure about your own decisions and qualities, then your subordinates will never follow you. As a leader, he has been oozing with confidence, show some swagger and assertiveness to gain the respect of his subordinates.

According to him, he joined politics officially in 1999 when he served as party agent to PDP at poling Unit 009 . And later decamped with his Dad to AD during the second term bid of H.E Otunba Niyi Adebayo in 2003. He said he was welcomed to AD by H.E himself and other party leaders like Hon Liasu Sulaimon and Pa Kayode Olotu etc . Since 2003, he had served at several positions starting from party agent , ward mobilizer and retuning officer during the election, he said.

Earlier, he said he was contesting for the position of Local Government Chairmanship of Irepodun/Ifelodun in order to deliver more dividend of Democracy in his Local Government, also to impact more in the lives of his constituents with his vast experience in oil and gas industry and other production industries without relying on the Government. To develop the mineral resources for common use and to explore opportunities in the field of education by improving local allowance given to the teachers to give quality teaching aids to the student by equipping the school library with latest textbooks, sport creating enabling environment by upgrading the schools sport facilities and power training both local and if possible internationally. To also build the confidence of aged parents by providing basic amenities needed promptly.”

He lamented on how Awo has been sidelined in the race of Chairmanship for Irepodun Ifelodun Local Government area saying Awo has been marginalized because since 1993 Awo Ekiti hasn’t had the opportunity to be elected as Irepodun Ifelodun Local Chairman ones and it was a short period of Engr. Segun Oni . Each time Awo indigene comes out to contest , we will be told we are in constituency 2, not Irepodun/Ifelodun permutations. These comprises of Awo. Eyio , Esure, Iworoko, Are , Afao, Araromi and Igbemo, Which has always favours igbemo or Iworoko due to their population, Wards and Influence from the notable leaders. When it’s the time of Constituency 2, we are always classified as Irepodun, this has robbed us of this opportunity severally”

“This is why our leaders decided to name us middle belt since we are treated as cast in our Local Government and now that Governor Fayemi heard our prayers by merging us with Igede Ekiti in the Local Government Chairmanship power rotation, I don’t think it would be fair if igede treats us the same way we were treated before the creation of LCDAS. And all these were put together before I offered myself to contest for the Position of the Chairman in Irepodun Ifelodun Local Government, Awo Ekiti can’t stand to be marginalized again this time around” he explained.
