CAN Urges Peace, Unity as Muslims Celebrate Eid-el-Kabir
As Muslims across Nigeria mark Eid-el-Kabir, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on all citizens to embrace peace, unity, and mutual respect, regardless of tribe or religion.

In a statement released Friday in Abuja, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, emphasized the importance of the Festival of Sacrifice, highlighting its shared values between Christianity and Islam—faith, obedience, love, and kindness.
“This sacred occasion reminds us of the selfless obedience of Abraham (Prophet Ibrahim),” Archbishop Okoh said. “It is a time to share what we have, care for one another, and strengthen the bonds that unite us.”
He encouraged Muslim faithful to reach out to the less fortunate, share meals, and offer prayers for peace in the nation. “Small acts of kindness can make a big difference,” he noted.
Addressing the wider Nigerian community, Okoh stressed that Eid-el-Kabir offers an opportunity to foster unity across religious lines. “When we celebrate together, we prove that our diversity is our strength,” he added.
Extending warm greetings to the Muslim community, the CAN President said, “To all our Muslim friends, we wish you a joyful and blessed Eid-el-Kabir. May your prayers be accepted and your homes filled with peace and happiness.”
Okoh also expressed solidarity with families in Mokwa, Niger State, who have been affected by severe flooding. “Lives have been lost, homes destroyed, and many are in need,” he said. “CAN stands ready to assist. We urge churches and Christians to provide support—be it food, clothing, financial aid, or prayers.”
He commended the Niger State government, emergency responders, and volunteers for their continued efforts, assuring that CAN will play its part in providing hope and relief.
