Two senior officials in the Oyo State Government have resigned from their positions in the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The officials, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, and the Governor’s Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, submitted their resignation letters on Monday, November 2, 2026.
Both officials indicated that their resignations would take immediate effect, bringing their appointments in the state government to an end.
While Ojo did not disclose the reason behind his decision to leave the administration, Oyeleke reportedly attributed his resignation to dissatisfaction with the prevailing working conditions within the government.
The former special adviser explained that the circumstances surrounding his position had made it increasingly difficult for him to meet expectations and fulfil the aspirations of the people he represented.
Despite their decision to leave office, both officials expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for giving them the opportunity to serve in his administration.
Their departures have created vacancies in two strategic positions within the state’s Budget and Economic Planning Department, which plays an important role in the formulation, coordination and implementation of government fiscal policies and development programmes.
However, the state government had yet to announce their replacements as of the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the circumstances surrounding Ojo’s resignation remain unclear, as the former commissioner did not provide any official explanation for his decision to step down.
The development marks a significant change within the economic planning structure of the Makinde administration, although it remains unclear whether further changes will follow.
