Army Chief Leads Security Assessment in Jos, Reaffirms Commitment to Lasting Peace


The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, has led heads of security agencies on an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in Jos, Plateau State, as part of renewed efforts to restore calm and strengthen peace in the region.


The visit forms part of ongoing strategies aimed at improving operational coordination and addressing emerging security challenges affecting communities across the state.


Upon arrival, the army chief was received by the state governor, Caleb Mutfwang, highlighting the collaboration between military authorities and the state government in tackling insecurity.


During the engagement, the army chief received a comprehensive operational briefing from senior military officers on ongoing activities under the Joint Task Force, as well as measures being implemented to contain threats, protect lives, and stabilise affected communities.


He commended troops and other security personnel for their resilience and professionalism, urging them to sustain the momentum in ongoing operations. He also stressed the need for stronger synergy among security agencies, noting that coordinated efforts remain crucial in addressing the complex security challenges in Plateau State and its environs.


As part of the visit, he interacted with community leaders and residents, reassuring them of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, and restoring normalcy to affected areas.


He further urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies by providing credible information to support ongoing operations and investigations.


The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its resolve to work closely with other security agencies, the state government, and relevant stakeholders to ensure lasting peace and stability across the region.
