Apostle Emmanuel Ayoola Olufuye, General Chairman of Moleke Agudu Community and Ward 9 Coordinator under Egbeda Local Government, is set to be honoured at the 2026 Southwest Legends Lecture and Awards organised by D Chronicle Media Ventures.
Apostle Olufuye will be recognised for his contributions to community leadership, humanitarian service, education and Christian ministry, as well as his commitment to the development and welfare of the people within his community.
The prestigious event, themed “Legends of Service: The Southwest Blueprint for Nation Building,” is scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the Olusegun Aganga Hall, International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Oyo State. The programme will commence at 1:00 p.m.
The annual Southwest Legends Lecture and Awards is designed to celebrate distinguished individuals whose contributions to leadership, professional service, entrepreneurship, community development and nation building have made a significant impact in the Southwest and beyond.
A Life of Education, Faith and Service
Apostle Olufuye’s journey has been shaped by a combination of academic pursuit, teaching, Christian ministry and community service.
He began his formal education at St. Peter’s Primary School, Idowa, Ijebu, before proceeding to Ijebu Southern District Grammar School, Ala-Ijebu, for his secondary education.
Driven by his passion for education and teaching, he obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Political Science and Christian Religious Studies from Tai Solarin College of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu.
Determined to advance his education, he later proceeded to Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, where he studied Political Science. He also studied Public Administration at The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Following the completion of his NCE, Apostle Olufuye began his teaching career at the prestigious Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta, where he served as an educator.
However, in response to what he described as a divine calling, he eventually resigned from the teaching profession to devote himself fully to Christian ministry.
Since then, he has worked with several ministries and remained committed to his ministerial responsibilities, humanitarian activities and service to humanity.
His leadership responsibilities have extended beyond the church. He currently serves as the General Chairman of Moleke Agudu Community, where he contributes to community development and the promotion of the welfare of residents. He also serves as the Ward 9 Coordinator under Egbeda Local Government.
His career and public service reflect a combination of academic discipline, spiritual commitment, leadership and dedication to community development.
Distinguished Line-Up of Speakers and Guests
The 2026 Southwest Legends Lecture and Awards will feature a lecture, awards presentation and the launch of a special publication dedicated to the personalities being honoured as Southwest Legends.
Professor Ambrose Ayelari, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, is scheduled to deliver the lecture, while Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, former President-General of the Maritime Workers Union, will serve as Chairman of the occasion.
His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, is expected to attend as the Special Guest of Honour.
The event is expected to attract academics, community leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, public figures and other stakeholders who will gather to celebrate individuals whose contributions to service and leadership continue to make an impact in society.
For Apostle Emmanuel Ayoola Olufuye, the recognition represents an acknowledgement of his years of commitment to faith,k education, humanitarian service and community leadership, as well as his continued efforts toward the advancement and wellbeing of the people he serves.
