Aiyedatiwa Presents N384.5b 2024 Budget To Ondo Of Assembly

Ondo State Acting Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa on Thursday, presented the budget for year 2024 to the Ondo State House of Assembly.
According to the budget Christened “Budget of Economic Resilience” with a total of Three hundred and eighty Four Billion, Five hundred and thirty three million naira, (N384,533,000,000) N45,367,453,580 is for Statutory Allocation, N33,039,332,950 for Independent Revenue, N30,301,829,040 for Value Added Tax, N30,524,211,875 for Mineral Derivations, N100,439,986,003 for Other FAAC/Excess Crude Revenue, N43,700,000,000 for grants, N25,100,000,000 for other Capital Receipts, N76,060,186,552 for financing.
He pointed that the objectives of 2024 Budget includes; invest in human capital development with renewed vigour, rejig Independent Revenue collection for attainment of financial resilience and sustainability, optimize resource inflow and expand fiscal space locally and globally, expand the scope and reach of social safety nets and economic support programmes to the deserving citizens of the State, develop agricultural value chain and promote expansion of agricultural productivity to enhance food security, stimulate rural economy, among others.
He noted that the achievements of the present administration according to the “Redeemed Agenda” are Rural and Agricultural Development, Educational Advancement and Human Capital Development, Infrastructural Development, Efficient Service Delivery Development and Policy, Effective Healthcare and Social Welfare, Maintenance of Law and Order for Adequate Security, Energy, Mining and Sustainable Industries and Digital Revolution and Entrepreneurship.
He appreciated the Lawmakers for their support for Governor Akeredolu led Administration and also for their unrelenting prayers for him, especially during his challenging moment. He also applauded the people of Ondo State for their outpouring of affection and supplications for Mr. Governor.
Aiyedatiwa pleaded for continuous partnership of everyone in making the State run smoothly in line with the mindset of Governor Akeredolu.
“Let me reiterate on behalf of Mr. Governor that we are very determined and shall remain undaunted and focused in our effort to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people and to make Ondo State a reference point for developmental strides in Nigeria.
In his reaction, the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji stated that the Budget presentation is in tandem with the provision of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as Amended), that makes it statutory for every Government to present its yearly Appropriation Bill before the Legislature whose members are the direct representatives of the people for Legislative consideration and ratification.
The Speaker commended Governor Akeredolu for the undiluted attention his administration accords to every sector of the economy in the State.
While urging everyone to continue to support the present administration in a bid to realize the Ondo State that we all envision, Oladiji assured the State Government that the fiscal document will be given the desired Legislative attention as expected.
The bill was, therefore, committed to the Committee of Finance and Appropriation after it scaled through Second Reading.
The budget presentation had in attendance, members of the State Executive Council, as well as other top politicians and government’s officials.
